In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Logitech’s popular G502 gaming mouse, the company has announced that it will be releasing a limited edition version with an aluminum body.
Dubbed the G502 X Plus AL Edition, this new version will have a lot of the same features as Logitech’s G502 X Plus wireless mouse, except the aluminum body will be laser-etched with serial numbers from 1 to 502. That’s right, only 502 of these bad boys are being produced.
Feature-wise, you can expect a 25K DPI sensor, RGB lighting, and wireless charging via Logitech’s PowerPlay charging system.
How can you get your hands on a G502 X Plus AL Edition mouse? Well, you can’t buy one because Logitech won’t be putting them up for sale. Instead, the mice “can only be awarded, earned, or gifted from Logitech G or our partners to community members across the globe.” (Logitech already gave away 10 units via X/Twitter. Presumably, more raffles and giveaway events will take place on social media and elsewhere.)
It’s a fun idea for fans and collectors, but it does little to wash away the bitter taste of Logitech’s recent fiasco over the “forever mouse” concept. We’re cautiously optimistic given that the company backed off the idea after backlash, though, and it’s nice that Logitech is providing DPI upgrades via download for older mice.
