SBI outage: Users report online banking and UPI service issues

State Bank of India services are facing an outage with users reporting issues with their mobile banking services. The bank had informed users about the scheduled outage on X a few hours ago. 

“Due to Annual Closing activities our digital services will be unavailable between 1 pm and 4 pm. We request you to use UPI Lite and ATM channels for uninterrupted services,” the notice stated. 

However, according to Downdetector users started reporting issues since around 9 am with 897 reports filed post 1 pm at the peak. Around 65% of the issues reported were related to mobile banking, 30% were related to fund transfer and 5% were related to ATM withdrawals.

The National Payment Corporation of India or NPCI also informed users on X that some banks might be affected by an outage due to the closing of the financial year saying they are “working with the concerned banks for necessary redressal.”
