This year’s update focuses on refining the experience rather than reinventing it. The Series 11 introduces features such as hypertension notifications and a detailed Sleep Score for better health tracking. The aluminum models now come with a display that’s twice as resistant to scratches, and for the first time, the Series 11 supports 5G connectivity making it more capable while retaining its familiar, streamlined design.

Design & Display
The Series 11 largely retains the now-familiar squircle design, but with notable refinements. We were not surprised with the Series 11 not having any major design changes, as we saw a measurably slimmer Series 10 last year, and Apple has retained that same slim form factor this year. We reviewed the 46mm variant, and despite being slightly bigger than the 42mm model, it sits well on the wrist, with the weight distribution feeling perfect. However, for many users, particularly women, we suggest sticking to the 42mm size, as sleep tracking with a smaller watch is undeniably easier and less likely to bother the user in bed.
The aluminium build feels fairly light on the hand. The case sizes have been slightly increased to 42mm and 46mm, which may require new bands for some users, though many older bands remain compatible.
The watch offers serious resilience, rated Water Resistant 50m (making it swim-proof) and carrying an IP6X dust resistance rating. The aluminium models feature a tougher Ion-X front glass (with a ceramic coating for increased scratch resistance), while the Titanium models are protected by Sapphire crystal. We did nick the watch once or twice during workouts on the display, and so far we haven’t noticed any scratches.
The default strap with us is the regular rubber one, the Sport Band, which is made of a breathable fluoroelastomer and is excellent for daily wear. However, if you have an active lifestyle involving intense, sweaty workouts, we suggest going for the woven Nike Sport Loop for superior breathability and quick-drying comfort.
The display sees the most significant physical upgrade. It’s now brighter, reaching up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, a visible improvement, especially outdoors. The reduction in the bezel size is subtle, yet effectively allows for a more immersive visual experience, making notifications and apps feel closer to the edge.
Software & Performance
While the Apple Watch Series 11 didn’t feel dramatically faster than the Series 10 right out of the box, the real differences began to stand out after a few days of use. The most impactful change and one that noticeably improves everyday experience is the battery life.
The Series 11 is impressively resilient, comfortably lasting more than a full day even with heavy usage, which in this case included daily hour-long workouts and continuous wear through the day and night. This boost finally makes Apple’s “all-day and all-night” claim feel genuine. It’s now entirely feasible to track your health around the clock without worrying about running out of charge. A big part of this reliability comes from the watch’s fast-charging support it doesn’t need to hit 100% every day.
A short daily top-up, say during a morning shower or breakfast, was enough to keep it running smoothly through the next 24 hours.
Of course, the most significant dips in battery were seen during intense activities like workouts or when making cellular-enabled calls. The software side also plays a crucial role in refining the overall experience.
Running on watchOS 26, the Series 11 feels polished and fluid, with animations that flow naturally and responsiveness that feels effortless. The new Liquid Glass design adds a touch of elegance, lending a refined, almost fluid aesthetic to the interface. Apple’s choice to keep icons semi-opaque rather than fully transparent also makes sense it improves readability in bright sunlight, which is often a challenge on smaller smartwatch displays.
The core Fitness App experience continues to stand out, with its excellent accuracy and comprehensive options remaining a strong point for tracking everything from running and cycling to strength training and HIIT. watchOS 26 also brings a standout new health feature: Sleep Score. This feature goes beyond tracking hours slept by analyzing key metrics, including total duration, bedtime consistency, periods of wakefulness, and time spent in Deep, Core, and REM stages. The result is a single, data-backed score (on a scale of 1–100) that provides a more complete picture of your nightly rest, turning raw sleep data into meaningful, actionable insight. One addition we’d like to see in future updates is a visual or animated element perhaps an animal or character that reflects your sleep score, something in the vein of Garmin’s “Body Battery” approach, which makes data feel more personal and engaging.
For those looking for an extra push to find their rhythm in the gym or on a run, the new Workout Buddy feature can be incredibly helpful. Workout Buddy provides personalized, audible motivation and insights during your session, based on real-time analysis of your fitness history and data. Core Apple ecosystem integrations remain as seamless as ever.
You can still use the watch to control your iPhone camera, perfect for group shots or creative angles and take calls directly from your wrist. For fitness enthusiasts, the LTE model especially stands out: it lets you leave your phone behind while running or at the gym, with access to podcasts, playlists, and audiobooks downloaded directly onto the watch. Pair it with your wireless earbuds, and the Series 11 becomes a truly independent, on-the-go companion.
Verdict
The Apple Watch Series 11 builds on familiar strengths with subtle but meaningful refinements. A brighter, tougher display, improved battery life, and new health features like Sleep Score tracking make it the most balanced Apple Watch yet.
Performance feels smoother with watchOS 26, though design changes are minimal. The new Sleep Score adds useful insights, but a more visual approach would make it even better.
We wouldn’t recommend upgrading from a Series 9 or 10, but if you’re using an older model, the Series 11 hits the sweet spot of reliability, endurance, and everyday utility.
