Google announced that its AI offering Gemini can now generate illustrated storybooks in a variety of styles that will turn text prompts, essays, uploaded photos, drawings, and more into short books for children.
The company shared examples of media that could be turned into AI-generated Storybooks, such as a mother’s resume being transformed into a colouring book for her young children. This would allow them to understand her career in the form of a story as well as an art project. The stories can be read aloud by the AI model too.
Google further suggested that vacation pictures, children’s drawings, and real life circumstances could be used to create more personalised storybooks for children.
“Simply describe any story you can imagine, and Gemini generates a unique 10-page book with custom art and audio. For a truly personal touch, you can ask Gemini to draw inspiration from your own photos and files. Bring your vision to life in any style imaginable: from pixel art and comics to claymation, crochet, and even coloring books, in more than 45 languages,” said Google in a blog post on Tuesday (August 5, 2025).
Users can try out the new illustrated storybook feature in the Gemini app. It is available globally on desktop and mobile, and in all languages supported by Gemini, per the blog post.
