Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy M05, a budget-friendly addition to its Galaxy M series lineup. Priced at Rs. 7,999, the smartphone is designed to offer an impressive feature set for entry-level consumers. Available in a Mint Green color option, the Galaxy M05 is available for purchase through Samsung’s official website, Amazon, and select retail stores across India.

Samsung Galaxy M05 Display and Build

The Galaxy M05 boasts a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 60Hz refresh rate, making it suitable for everyday viewing and media consumption. The phone has a waterdrop-style notch that houses the 8MP front-facing camera, providing users with basic selfie and video chat capabilities. The device is built with a plastic body, measuring 8.8mm in thickness and weighing around 195 grams, offering a lightweight design.

Performance and Software

At the heart of the Galaxy M05 is the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, which also powers other Samsung models like the Galaxy A05. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB via the microSD card slot. The Galaxy M05 runs on Android 14 with Samsung’s One UI Core 6.0 interface. Samsung has confirmed that the phone will receive two years of OS updates and four years of security patches, ensuring long-term software support.

Samsung Galaxy M05 Camera and Battery

One of the standout features of the Galaxy M05 is its 50MP primary rear camera, which is paired with a 2MP depth sensor. This setup allows users to capture detailed photos, especially in well-lit conditions. As Rahul Pahwa, Director of MX Business at Samsung India, mentioned during the launch, “The 50MP dual camera promises an enhanced camera experience, setting a new benchmark among entry-level smartphones.” On the front, the 8MP selfie camera is positioned within the waterdrop notch, offering decent performance for basic photography and video calls.

The phone is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, capable of supporting 25W wired charging. However, similar to other Samsung budget devices, the Galaxy M05 does not come with a charger in the box, which may be a downside for some consumers. The device’s large battery size ensures long-lasting usage, making it ideal for users seeking an affordable phone with strong battery life.

Additional Features

The Galaxy M05 comes with standard connectivity options, including dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. For audio, it still features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a notable inclusion in today’s smartphone market. One drawback, however, is the lack of a fingerprint scanner, which some users may find disappointing, though the phone does support face unlock for added security.Overall, the Samsung Galaxy M05 offers a solid mix of essential features at an affordable price point. With a large display, 50MP camera, and long-lasting battery, the device aims to cater to young consumers looking for a reliable smartphone that delivers good value for money.
