Chinese smartphone maker Vivo on Tuesday (September 23, 2025) officially announced to shift to a new operating skin called Origin OS in India. Running already in its home turf, the new skin will debut as Origin OS 6 based on Android 16 in Vivo devices, transitioning from Funtouch OS.

Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO has also confirmed the same. Nipun Marya, iQOO India CEO shared on X, “We are ready for a new experience. Are you?”

“A new chapter begins with OriginOS 6, designed to make every swipe, tap, and interaction smoother than ever,” shared Vivo India on X.

The Origin OS 6 is expected to bring more customisation to the user interface and evolve on the native artificial intelligence race.

Vivo is likely to reveal the plan and the rollout in October during its developer’s meet in China.

Vivo’s X300 series is expected to bring the new Origin OS 6 to India, while iQOO might be early to launch phones running the new skin, possibly with iQOO 15.
