YouTube has unveiled a host of new generative AI tools for creators on Shorts including bringing a custom version of Veo 3 called Veo 3 Fast for YouTube Shorts. Using this, creators will be able to generate output with lower latency at 480p to create video clips easily with sound, for the first time.Â
The update is being rolled out in the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand for now with plans to expand to other countries later.Â
Shorts will also have Veo capabilities including making stylised videos say in pop art style, animating a still image with a motion from a video and adding an object into a video.Â
The platform will start experimenting with these additions within the next few months.Â
YouTube also introduced a new feature called ‘Edit with AI’ so creators can turn raw footage into first drafts by picking out the best moments and then add music, transitions and voiceovers to them in either Hindi or English.Â
Edit with AI has been rolled out as an experiment on Shorts and in the YouTube Create app, and will expand the feature in the coming weeks to some markets.
There’s also a Speech to Song remixing tool that can turn a funny phrase, quote or a sound from a video into a remix for Shorts. The streaming platform used Google’s AI music model Lyria 2 to create the soundtrack. Creators will also be able to choose the vibe they want.Â
