YouTube is rolling out a new, more immersive video player on its platform aimed at giving users a cleaner screen experience, confirmed a Google employee on a community forum.

This is one of several other new changes, including improvements to the ‘seek’ feature, seamless transitions on mobile, custom/animated likes on some content, a smoother video saving process, and threaded comments for reading clarity.

The updates were launched on October 13 and should soon roll out globally.

A sample YouTube video screen grab shared by Google showed fewer solid buttons intruding into the content screen, while the video time bar and other settings were made translucent.

“YouTube should feel as vibrant and dynamic as the creators and videos on it, so we’re aligning the energy of our content and the look of our interface to make your experience more enjoyable and engaging,” noted a Google employee in the forum.

Users were invited to share their feedback and comments in response to the revamped design.
